Who is A Candidate?
Beverly Hills. Rhinoplasty is indicated for patients who
desire a more refined nasal shape or a nose that is better
proportioned to the rest of the face. Rhinoplasty is also
indicated for correction of deformities following trauma
(e.g. nasal fracture) or disease, correction of asymmetry
and for improvement of the nasal airway.

Procedure Description
Nasal surgery is usually done on an outpatient basis under
local anesthesia with sedation (so-called twilight anesthesia).
Nasal surgery is done with either an open or closed approach.
In closed rhinoplasty, all incisions are placed inside the
nose. In open rhinoplasty, the incisions are similar except
for a single external incision that is placed over the mid-portion
of the columella (outside skin that separates the nostrils).
In cases where the nasal base is wide and needs to be narrowed,
a small external incision is necessary at the outer part
of the nostril.

Recuperation and Healing
The nose is not "packed" in the traditional sense.
Thin splints that are placed along either side of the nasal
septum to provide support are removed one week after surgery.
A small external splint that is placed over the outside
of the nose and held in place with tape is also removed
one week after surgery.
The day after surgery is a rest day.
Please refer to post-operative care guide for additional
instructions regarding activity and wound care. External
sutures (only used for open rhinoplasty) are removed after
one week. Some bruising and swelling should be expected,
but this can be minimized by carefully following the instructions
in the post-operative care guide.
